I can tell Jonah is feeling better because the knock knock jokes have returned. I'm still trying to decide whether this is a good thing.
I've tried looking at him like I have no idea what he's talking about when he says "knock knock". Hasn't deterred him. Tonight at dinner, he was doing these ridiculous chains of words in response to "who's there?" and I'd just say "Jonah who?" and he would laugh and laugh. Hard not to encourage him a little when he thinks I am so darn funny.
Hannah's inter-district transfer (for elementary school) has been approved by both districts. It was not as hard as we had been led to believe it would be by the families we know who were denied tranfers out of our home district in previous years. John went to the school board meeting; they approved it unanimously. We're thrilled that Hannah is going to get to go to this terrific, tiny school with 2 of her great friends. (And Jonah, eventually, will be in kindergarten with 2 of his best buddies as well.) I just can't believe that she got to be this old. It's better than the alternative, to be sure, but kindergarten? Feels surreal, but at the same time, she is so very ready.
When I picked Hannah up from preschool this afternoon, another parent and a teacher and I were talking about a "positive parenting" workshop the school is holding. Hannah gasped and said: "We're getting a parrot!?!"
Aurk! Good job! Aurk! Nice problem solving! Aurk! Thanks for cleaning up your room!
